This weekend, we’re going (half) crazy. We are thrilled to announce that we are joining the team of official bloggers for the Destination Races Woodinville Wine Country Half Marathon! Destination Races is an organization that brings the running experience to a whole new level. This isn’t your mother’s half-marathon!
On Saturday, September 19th, runners will gather at the scenic Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery to embark on a 13.1 mile journey around the Eastside that will end in a haven of wine and music. According to the organizers, this route is a wine-loving runner’s dream come true:
“The Woodinville Wine Country Half Marathon starts at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, heads northwest to Bothell, and then follows the Sammamish River Trail back to Woodinville, finishing in Redmond. You’ll be treated to gorgeous scenery along the river, and the route passes some of Woodinville’s best wineries and breweries, finishing at Redmond’s City Hall campus for the post-race Wine & Music Festival.”
The race is just one of several events that will take place during the celebration of fitness and wine. The Race Expo will be held on Friday, September 18th from 10am until 7pm. With the 7am race start time, the real fun will begin when runners cross the finish line and join in on the Wine & Music Festival at the City Hall Campus. Not a runner? No problem! Enthusiasts and supporters are welcome to join the festival beginning at 9:30am until noon.
With great work comes great reward – the race participants will end their day in style at the Post-Race Finishers Party held from 2pm to 4pm to celebrate their hard work! Can you think of a better way to cap a day of scenic running in wine country than with some of the Pacific Northwest’s best wines? Yeah, we can’t think of anything better either.
